During the past years, we've heard more and more about Crowdfunding in various contexts and industries. This unique mechanism is mainly characterized by allowing the raising of small amounts of money from a relatively large number of people for various causes. Some use it to raise money to establish new hi-technology ventures, while others raise money to help people in need.
In an hour-long lecture, we will clarify and unfold the different crowdfunding models and main differences between them. We will have an overview of this phenomenon from a global perspective as well as from a Norwegian point of view, discuss main trends, and present interesting case studies. To finalize, we will deliver the essential how’s, do's and don'ts when establishing a campaign on one of the crowdfunding platforms.
Speaker: Daniel Berliner is a research fellow at the Crowdfunding Research Center, as well as a lecturer of entrepreneurship and innovation, at the Department of Management at the Faculty of Business and Law, University of Agder. His research aims to disclose the criteria influencing investment decision making in equity crowdfunding of high-risk early-stage technological ventures, and whether and how it differs from other entrepreneurial finance mechanisms.
